July Update (2): UX! eKYC Service is Better!

ID card KYC OCR! Solve it with one ARGOS!

ARGOS regularly improves its functions every month to enhance the speed, security, and convenience of KYC (identity verification) services.
The core of this July update is to reduce operating costs, accelerate onboarding speed, and strengthen fraud prevention.
In particular, we implemented features that are directly helpful for customers in their KYC process.
Below, we introduce the second series of the main features from this update.

1. 15-minute Session Maintenance & Reduced Bounce Rate

Now, even if a user stops in the middle of verification, they can resume within 15 minutes and continue their authentication.

Even if the browser window is closed and reopened, the same session will still be maintained.

In the past, if a remittance service subscriber uploaded a passport image and their network was disconnected, they had to restart from the beginning. Now, users can return within 15 minutes and continue right where they left off.

This update helps reduce unnecessary user drop-offs, improves the user experience, and decreases the overall bounce rate.

In addition, ID Document LiveForm has been updated:

  • New mode shooting is supported

  • Both horizontal and vertical IDs are now recognized seamlessly

This means flexible support for various types of ID documents, further enhancing the mobile user experience. Check it out!

2. Enhancement of Encryption Algorithm (ECB → GCM)

The previous default encryption algorithm was ECB, which is relatively weak in security.
This update introduces GCM (a security-enhanced model).

  • Key feature: Even if the same API is used, the result will be different each time, providing much stronger security.

ECB: Splits data into fixed block units (e.g., 128 bits) and encrypts each block independently.
GCM: Encrypts data while simultaneously performing integrity verification (ensuring the data has not been altered).

Division

ECB

GCM

Method

Encrypts each block independently

Counter-based encryption + authentication tag

Security

Low (pattern exposure)

Very high (pattern hidden + forgery protection)

Integrity Verification

Impossible

Possible (AEAD support)

Speed

Fast (simple implementation)

Fast (parallelization + hardware acceleration)

Use Case

Simple/non-sensitive data (rarely used)

Finance, payments, network communication (TLS, IPsec, etc.)

With this, the possibility of hacking is dramatically reduced, and clients can apply the enhanced security module whenever needed.

Financial institutions or large-scale payment service providers can now operate in a much stronger security environment by selecting GCM instead of ECB.

3. Return URL Customization & Encryption Strengthening

Clients can now directly specify the Return URL where users will be redirected after completing KYC.

Previously, users were simply returned to the default home page.
Now, they can be redirected to a specific page of choice (e.g., payment completion screen, account linking page).

  • In addition, Submission ID + custom values can be delivered to the Return URL.

  • All transmitted values are encrypted, ensuring sensitive data is never exposed.

This makes it possible to implement customized user flows while simultaneously enhancing data security.

Following our first announcement, this is the second round of July update highlights!
This update is not just about adding new features — it focuses on real, immediate improvements in operational environments.

  • Improved User Experience: Session maintenance, selfie re-verification

  • Operating Efficiency: Manual Submission Control (Emergency Stop), Return URL customization

  • Strengthened Security: Application of GCM encryption, data encryption functions

ARGOS will continue to provide a fast, safe, and optimized identity verification environment for the global market.
In addition, we will keep improving both regulatory compliance and user experience, in line with today’s constantly changing regulatory environment.
