Building a Secure and Seamless eKYC Experience for Global Remittance Customers

ARGOS Identity is working with Japan Remit Finance to build an enhanced global eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) framework for its international remittance services.

Through this collaboration, ARGOS will provide its global eKYC platform, ID check, to support a more secure and convenient customer verification experience for international users, including foreign residents in Korea.

This initiative goes beyond simply implementing an identity verification solution. It is designed to strengthen AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) processes for remittance services serving customers from diverse countries, while establishing a global identity verification infrastructure that can also support future financial services such as digital wallets.

Why Global eKYC Is Becoming Essential for Remittance Services

Unlike financial services focused primarily on domestic customers, international remittance providers serve users across different nationalities, identity documents, languages, and verification environments.

As the number of foreign residents and international customers continues to grow, remittance providers need to accurately recognize and verify identity documents issued across multiple countries while enabling customers to complete identity verification without unnecessary complexity.

At the same time, evolving AML requirements across global financial markets are making customer verification more than just an onboarding step. It is increasingly becoming a critical component of service reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

When businesses rely heavily on manual reviews to process identity documents from different countries, verification can take longer for customers while also increasing the operational workload for compliance teams.

For remittance providers, therefore, the key question is no longer simply “How many customers can we verify?” but rather “How consistently and efficiently can we verify customers from different countries?”

Japan Remit Finance Strengthens Its Global Customer Verification Framework

Japan Remit Finance provides international remittance services to a diverse customer base, including foreign residents in Korea.

To provide a safer and more convenient digital financial experience, the company is working to enhance its AML/KYC and customer verification processes while establishing a global identity verification infrastructure that can support future financial services, including digital wallets.

As part of this initiative, Japan Remit Finance conducted an internal review, service demonstrations, and a Proof of Concept (PoC) before selecting ARGOS Identity's global eKYC platform, ID check.

The two companies are currently preparing for system integration and implementation. Following a stabilization process, they plan to progressively establish a secure and efficient eKYC environment for global customers.

One eKYC Process for Customers Across Multiple Countries

International remittance providers must process different identity documents and customer information depending on each user's nationality and country of origin.

ARGOS ID check enables businesses to manage these diverse identity verification requirements through a unified eKYC process.

ID check provides key remote identity verification capabilities including AI-powered ID OCR, ID authenticity verification, document fraud and tampering detection, Face Match, and Face Liveness within a single platform.

Supporting approximately 4,000 types of government-issued identity documents across more than 200 countries and regions, ID check enables businesses to establish a consistent customer verification process for users around the world.

Japan Remit Finance plans to use ID check to support identity document OCR, automated data extraction, document authenticity verification, and Face Liveness-based identity verification.

By doing so, the company aims to improve both verification accuracy and customer convenience while reducing repetitive manual reviews, increasing operational efficiency, and strengthening its AML/KYC capabilities.

The identity verification framework established through this project will also extend beyond international remittance. As Japan Remit Finance expands into new financial services such as digital wallets, the same infrastructure can serve as a foundation for verifying customers across a broader range of digital financial products.

ARGOS Expands Its eKYC Experience Across the Remittance Industry

This collaboration also marks another step in ARGOS Identity's growing eKYC presence across the remittance industry.

ARGOS currently provides global eKYC services to major remittance providers in Korea, including Hanpass, SentBe, UTransfer, CrossENF, and ICB, supporting customer verification across a variety of operational environments.

Unlike financial services serving primarily domestic customers, international remittance providers need to process customers and identity documents from multiple countries simultaneously.

This means businesses must consider not only global identity document coverage, but also real-world operational challenges such as verification failures, manual review workloads, and the identity verification experience for international customers.

Through its work with multiple remittance providers, ARGOS has accumulated practical experience in building global eKYC processes tailored to different service structures, customer demographics, and operational requirements.

The collaboration with Japan Remit Finance further expands ARGOS's experience in international customer verification and AML/KYC operations. ARGOS plans to continue strengthening its position as a trusted global eKYC partner for the remittance industry.

Building eKYC for Global Development Environments

Building eKYC for global financial services requires more than identity verification technology. The development and operational environment behind the integration is equally important.

For this project, the two companies will collaborate with global development teams throughout the system integration process.

ARGOS will provide English-language technical support and testing environments to facilitate collaboration with international developers and help build a global eKYC system optimized for Japan Remit Finance's actual operating environment.

Through this approach, ARGOS aims to support a stable implementation process spanning technology integration, testing, deployment, and ongoing service operations.

Won-gyu Lee, CEO of ARGOS Identity, said:

“International remittance services operate across diverse customer groups and countries, making accurate customer verification and robust AML/KYC processes critical to service competitiveness. This collaboration is particularly meaningful because it will establish an infrastructure that enables international customers, including foreign residents in Korea, to access financial services more securely and conveniently.”

He added:

“Building on the global eKYC experience we have accumulated through collaborations with major remittance providers in Korea, ARGOS will continue expanding trusted digital identity infrastructure across international remittance, digital wallets, fintech, and other financial services.”
